What Is Medicare Advantage?

Medicare Part C, also known as Medicare Advantage (MA), is sold by private insurance companies approved by Medicare, and offers the equivalent of Medicare Part A and Part B, and may provide additional coverage. If you purchase a Medicare Advantage plan, you must be eligible for Original Medicare, but cannot have a Medicare Supplement plan. With Medicare Advantage, all of your Medicare benefits are received through a private insurance company.

How to Switch Back to Original Medicare & Medigap

If you are currently on a Medicare Advantage plan and want to switch back to Original Medicare and Medicare Supplement insurance, there are only 2 time periods you can do this.

You can make the switch during the Annual Enrollment Period (October 15th – December 7th) or the Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment Period (January 1st – March 31st).
