You can request a new Medicare card by calling Social Security at 1-800-772-1213 any weekday (Monday – Friday) from 7 am to 7 pm. Once you’re connected to a specialist, let them know that you’re looking to get a replacement Medicare card.

How Do I Get a New Medicare Card in Person?

You can drive to your local Social Security office and request a replacement Medicare card while there. If you’d like a letter to use as temporary proof of insurance, they’ll be able to provide you with one. When Will I Receive My New Medicare Card?

Once you’ve completed your request, your new Medicare card will be physically mailed to the address that Social Security has on file for you. You can expect to receive your card within 30 days.

 When you get your new card in the mail, you can continue using it as before. Unlike Social Security cards, you can laminate your Medicare card if you’d like to give it an extra layer of protection.
