Medicare Insurance or Doctor's Insurance with Medicare Part B

Medicare Part B is health insurance that covers outpatient medical services that are deemed either medically necessary or preventative. Medically necessary services are “services or supplies that are needed to diagnose or treat your medical condition.” Preventative services are services performed to prevent or detect illnesses.

Part B benefits include:

  • Ambulance service
  • Inpatient and outpatient care
  • Partial hospitalization
  • Clinical research
  • DME (durable medical equipment)

Cost of Medicare Part B

There is a monthly premium and annual deductible with Medicare Part B, and those fees are subject to change every year.

For the year 2019, the Part B annual deductible is $185, and the monthly premium for most is $135.50.

Eligibility for Medicare Part B

Eligibility for Part B depends on whether you are eligible for premium-free Part A or if you have to pay the premium for Part A.

All individuals who are eligible for premium-free Part A are also eligible for Part B.

The Part A beneficiaries that pay a premium must meet the certain criteria in order to enroll in Part B. Individuals must be:

  • 65 or older
  • U.S. Resident & Citizen (or)
  • Lawful aliens
